Dear Families, We are offering several trips and activities in the next few months. The first is Thursday, March 28 to Medieval Times. The following are the remaining trips: April 11 The Museum of the Moving Image: Museum of the Moving Image is the country's only museum dedicated to the art, history, technique, and technology of the moving image in all its forms. The Museum is a one-of-a-kind destination for audiences of all ages and interests, from connoisseurs of classic cinema to children and families to avid gamers. Embracing a wide range of subjects, from nineteenth century optical toys to the latest in digital art, the Museum explores every phase of the production, promotion, and exhibition of moving images. It offers an engaging, highly interactive core exhibition, programs of contemporary and classic films from around the world, discussions with leading figures in film and television, a unique collection, inspiring educational programs for learners of all ages, stimulating changing exhibitions, and groundbreaking online projects. April 16 Lancaster Pennsylvania, Amish Country Our visit to the “plain people” begins with “Jacob’s Choice” at the Amish Experience Theatre. Students can relate to Jacob, an Amish teenager, who faces the choice of becoming a modernized American or remaining in his community as an Amish adult. After the high-tech presentation, a local guide joins us for a tour of the farmlands and attractions of Lancaster County. We conclude the day with a Pennsylvania Dutch family-style meal at Plain & Fancy Farm. May 7 Springfield Massachusetts Basketball Hall of Fame and Museums of Springfield- The Hall of Fame is located in “The Birthplace of Basketball”, beautiful Springfield, Massachusetts. It houses nearly three hundred inductees and more than 40,000 square feet of basketball history. Hundreds of interactive exhibits share the spotlight with skills challenges, live clinics, and shooting contests. Lunch can be included as a stop on the way home. This trip also includes the Science Museum of Springfield, with presentations of Forensic Science and the History Detectives. May 9 Hall of Science- Over 450 interactive displays that explain Science in a fun and hands on way. May 22 The Downtown Experience A historic journey through Downtown Manhattan, enhanced by the magic of virtual reality. It is a brand new multimedia historic adventure which explores Downtown Manhattan’s most notable landmarks and neighborhoods highlighted by virtual reality moments that allow you to travel back in time and re live iconic moments in history. These trips will be offered to all students who have ID cards, and swipe in on time every day. All students are given ID cards in the 6th grade ,( or when they register) and are replaced one time at no charge. If a student loses their card a second time, there is a $ 5.00 fee to replace it. All students are required to have their ID cards with them every day. Attendance is documented, and they are used for lunch service as well. Criteria to be considered for these trips include attendance, ID cards and punctuality.
